Up to 60 hours per week, plus over-time after 40 per week Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) 21 years old or older Working Conditions/ Physical Effort Must be computer literate Must be able to maintain a flexible work Clean criminal background check from appropriate agencies Bilingual (English/Spanish/Haitian Creole) While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; handle or feel objects, or controls; reach; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk and hear The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus The physical demands and work environment characteristics described above are representative of the physical capabilities that must be met by an employee and the working conditions that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job Must be able to obtain Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification and First Aid Certification (CPR) Must be prepared and physically able to respond with appropriate protocol in a variety of dynamic supervision situations with clients of 0-17 years in age In a sudden or emergency event, staff must be at all times physically able to run, jump, lunge, twist, push, pull, apply SWK-approved Physical Intervention techniques, and otherwise manage or coerce the full weight of an adolescent All staff must be physically and mentally able to manage youth who become uncooperative, sick, violent, or display any other form of harmful or threatening behavior Staff must be able to maintain clarity of thought throughout the entirety of a shift and be able to respond quickly to duress Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for providing direct supervision of children in care and maintain a line of sight at all times Youth Care Workers will provide oversight of UC They will assist during the transition and with the movement of children from one activity to the next and one physical location to another and will conduct themselves in an appropriate manner Provide oversight during recreation, mealtime, relaxing time, and play Interact with children including playing games or during recreational time Provide a positive and respectful attitude towards children in care Maintain safety, accountability, and security of the facility Teach, coach, and supervise students in activities of daily living including morning, bedtime and overnight procedures, hygiene and cleanliness, housekeeping, meals, intramurals, sports, academics, and extracurricular activities both on and off facility Follow individual treatment plans for all the children Recognize escalating behaviors and intervene at the appropriate level to ensure safety and security Responsible for working collaboratively with program administrators to ensure that the collaborative process between the unit supervisors, case managers and clinical staff occurs on a consistent and on-going basis to ensure that unit programming is developed, implemented, and maintained within the lens of integrative treatment design Provides effective communication across departments and programs to ensure consistency of expectations, as well as works effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team Maintain effective working relationships with families, children/youth, colleagues, consultants, and community agencies Develop and maintain emotional intelligence for effective self-care and the role-model for youth, staff, and families the essence of Trauma Informed Practices Demonstrates an understanding of the value of cultural diversity, including the ability to develop systems and practices that are inclusive of diverse staff members and responsive to the cultural needs of the client population served Assist ensuring program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies Other task and responsibilities as assigned Benefits Pay:
